FOR TEACHERS AND SCHOOLS
For kids who are managing hard life experiences and transitions, school isn’t always the first priority. But learning how to succeed in school is essential for kids’ life-long development.
So how do we help students who are struggling and teachers who are feeling exhausted?
We can start by helping kids build strong relationships— places where they feel heard, can learn to listen, and where they can develop the confidence to pursue their own interests.
Educators can serve more kids when they consider issues from multiple angles — including from a kid’s point of view. That’s how I can help.
I support EDUCATORS & School support staff With
Classroom Success Strategies
The door to creativity and success opens for kids when we create the right conditions for them to learn and grow. The same is true when it comes to teaching the adults who serve them.
My training for educators focuses on teaching practices that improve school engagement and social-emotional development. I use my extensive research work and teaching experience to offer strategies that help educators leverage their own strengths and passions.
Individual & Systemic Solutions
We may not be able to overhaul the entire educational system (one step at a time…), but we can adjust individual settings to meet the needs of learners.
Addressing individual challenges through a big-picture lens is a powerful way to rethink how standardized systems have left certain kids behind. It can also address issues like teacher retention, admin burnout, and educational access.
Online Teaching Support
Despite the very real challenges and intricacies of online learning, digital classrooms are here to stay — and they can be incredibly useful for certain scenarios and populations.
I’ve spent a ton of time developing online learning curricula, studying what works, and helping other educators get comfortable teaching online. I was fortunate to be immersed in designing and delivering online learning well before the pandemic. I have tried, failed, iterated, and emerged with a pocket full of best practices.
Ongoing Professional Development
There’s nothing worse than boring professional development. I engage educators, administrators, caregivers, and social workers in experiential professional development, offering them opportunities to practice, experiment, and share their wisdom with one another. My goal is to give educators skills that they can use immediately, while at the same time, providing a learning space where they can feel safe to bring their concerns and challenges. I facilitate webinars, interactive workshops, virtual support groups, training sessions, and conversations.
My areas of expertise include:
Social-emotional learning
Educator resilience and fulfillment
Putting research into action
Trauma-informed, culturally responsive teaching
Developing equitable pedagogies
Enhancing opportunities for marginalized students
Improving educational access and outcomes for children with learning differences
