Professional development—for caregivers
When we take on a new job, we usually receive some kind of training that teaches us how to do the job! Caregivers need the same kind of “onboarding” to successfully navigate unfamiliar parenting situations: a new diagnosis, a challenging behavior at home or school, a traumatic incident, or a mental health crisis. As an educator, I emphasize preparing children for success in school, but the goal is not simply good grades. It’s about helping kids thrive so they can grow into healthy adults. I work with caregivers to find parenting approaches that work at home, and advocacy strategies they can use to ensure their child’s need are met at school.
When we teach kids to: resolve conflicts; work collaboratively; initiate a task and stick with it; develop healthy relationships; take on responsibility; and demonstrate empathy towards others they do better in school AND at home.
Training for Caregivers
I facilitate sessions that help caregivers solve common parenting challenges and collaborate effectively with schools.
I promote academic and social emotional development for kids who’ve experienced trauma and/or have complex learning needs.

“Gwen’s professional experience and skills were a huge asset to our team. Even though she has extensive education and experience, she has a genuinely humble and cooperative approach which makes her a truly enjoyable person to collaborate with. Working with Gwen was such a positive experience, and I very much look forward to working with her again in the future.”
